blue seersucker sundress

Pattern: McCall's 5042

Fabric: 100% cotton light blue and white striped seersucker, red cotton trim, and white cotton lining

Construction Notes: This simple dress pattern has princess seams, an A-line skirt, and zips up the back.

Miscellaneous Ramblings: The best thing about sewing is that if you see something you like, you can improve upon it! I thought this summer dress from Anthropologie was cute but I didn't care for the halter neckline and I thought the strawberry buttons were a little much. I kept the basic design idea but tailored it to what I wanted. My only regret is that I didn't change the skirt pattern slightly -- it's fine as it is, but I think it would've hung a little better if it was gored. (The setting for these photos is my grandparents' condo balcony in Clearwater, FL. It was pretty windy so that's why the skirt looks a little unnatural.)
