"Lord Peter" vest
Pattern: Folkwear #222
Fabric: black wool/polyester blend suiting and black polyester lining
Construction Notes: This vest has four functional welt pockets on the front, and is fully lined, with nine buttons down the front.
Miscellaneous Ramblings: This vest was a quickie, sewn for my dad to wear for the Christmas festivities in 2005. I really like one of the outfits worn by Lord Peter in the BBC version of Gaudy Night (see a photo here), so I convinced Dad that he should wear something similar for Christmas. Unfortunately we never did find the right tie to go with the blue striped shirt, so Dad ended up wearing the shirt and tie you see here.
On a side note, our entire family enjoys Dorothy L. Sayers' Lord Peter Wimsey mysteries! Last December, I took Unnatural Death with me to the Grand Canyon, where we were meeting up with the rest of the Demicks. I started reading it aloud to my Uncle Steve, Aunt Joanna, Grandma, Mom, and Dad (and anyone else who felt like listening). We got so hooked that I ended up lugging the book with me to the bottom of the Grand Canyon! Picture everyone exhausted out of their minds, lying on their bunk beds at the Phantom Ranch... and listening to Mom read aloud Dorothy Sayers! :)
