swing dress Pattern(s): Sense & Sensibility Swing Dress (E-Pattern) Fabric: cranberry red wool crepe Construction Notes: The dress is unlined. It has gathering above and below the bust and a gored skirt. It features a lot of topstitching. I omitted the back ties and inserted an invisible zipper down the back (rather than in the side of the dress, as the pattern instructs). Miscellaneous Ramblings: It's difficult to find a modern dress pattern with long sleeves, so I turned the the S&S Swing Dress pattern when making my 2008 Christmas dress. The pattern should be simple enough, but I had a great deal of difficulty with the neckline facing and the gathering above the bust. I eventually just dealt with the problem in my own way. back
